Adopt a Golden Knoxville is 100 percent volunteer based organization. And we have many volunteer opportunities available. We can work with you based on the time you have to give us and to our Golden Retrievers. Whether it is “hands on” or “behind the scenes,” we would love to have you join us!

Application to Volunteer

PAWNOTE: If you are needing community hours, please contact your local shelter. Unfortunately, Adopt a Golden can not provide short term/community service volunteer needs.

Fosters

Fosters are the backbone of Adopt a Golden Knoxville and essential to our success! The primary function of a foster includes taking Golden Retrievers into their home for at least one week to help evaluate their behavior, habits, and health. Fosters provide love, patience, and simple training to help the golden learn to trust and establish relationships with other dogs and people.

Application to Foster

Forever Fosters

Adopt a Golden Knoxville sometimes needs a foster for one of our special needs dogs who has been determined “unadoptable”. You provide a loving home for the dog for the rest of his life and we pay all medical bills. You only have to provide food, toys, a bed and of course, the most important thing, love. If you are interested in becoming a Permanent Foster, just check fill out the foster application and check the appropriate box.

Transport Team

Help is always needed to transport dogs once they have been approved into the program. Can you occasionally spare a couple of hours during the week? On a weekend? You must be 18 years old to be on the taxi team.

Application Team

One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering for Adopt a Golden Knoxville is seeing a dog placed in his or her forever home! Help us review potential adoption applications for our orphaned Golden Retrievers.

Intake Team

The first step in Adopt a Golden Knoxville’s rescue process is working with owners and shelters in bringing in a golden needing a new home.

Home Visits

Many of our Golden Retrievers have had a rough start in life, which is why we are so selective about our adopters. Before one of our Golden Retrievers is placed in a home, prospective adopters are required to meet with a home visit volunteer who completes a questionnaire and home inspection. Information gathered during the home visit is valuable in helping the Adoption Team match our Golden Retrievers with their perfect forever families.

Fundraising Event Team

Adopt a Golden Knoxville has three main fundraising events throughout the year. These events are essential to allow us to continue with our mission. Our events are fun, festive and full of Golden hair! Each event needs a planning committee to help coordinate the event. To learn more about our upcoming events, go to our Event Page.

Throughout the year, Adopt a Golden Knoxville has adoption events and attends community events to build awareness for our organization and our orphaned Golden Retrievers.

Communications and Marketing Team

Adopt a Golden Knoxville has various ways that we communicate, including social media, newsletters, collateral pieces and digital marketing. We are always looking for the creative types to help us with our constant communication.

Administration / Data Entry Team

Adopt a Golden Knoxville always needs extra hands to help with data entry, filing and making adoption and foster packets.
