Adopt a Golden Knoxville is an all-volunteer organization. We have many volunteer opportunities available and will work to find a volunteer role that meets your interests and time and our needs. Whether you prefer “hands on” or “behind the scenes,” we would love to have you join us!
PAWNOTE: If you are needing community hours, please contact your local shelter. Unfortunately, Adopt a Golden can not provide short term/community service volunteer needs.
Ways to Volunteer
Fosters
We love our fosters! AGK always needs foster team members. Our ability to respond to goldens in need depends on available foster homes. We need people with and without other dogs and people with and without cats.
What kind of person makes a good foster? People with big hearts who want to help a homeless golden retriever get ready for their next home. The first step in the foster approval process is to fill out an application.
Transport Team
Would you like to help transport dogs or supplies – from shelters and owners, to vet appointments? Can you occasionally spare a couple of hours during the week? On a weekend? You must be 18 years old to be on the transport team, have a reliable vehicle, and agree to follow transport team guidelines.
Application Team
One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering for Adopt a Golden Knoxville is seeing a dog placed in his or her forever home! Help us review potential adoption applications for our orphaned Golden Retrievers.
Home Visits
Many of our Golden Retrievers have had a rough start in life, which is why we are so selective about our adopters. Before one of our Golden Retrievers is placed in a home, prospective adopters are required to meet with a home visit volunteer who completes a questionnaire and home inspection. Information gathered during the home visit is valuable in helping the Adoption Team match our Golden Retrievers with their perfect forever families.
Fundraising Event Team
Adopt a Golden Knoxville has two main fundraising events each year – Goldens in the City and the Golden Golf Classic. These events are essential to raise funds for us to continue our mission. Our events are fun, festive, and full of Golden hair! Each event has a planning committee and always needs volunteers to carry out specific tasks – securing items for silent auctions, setting up and taking down, recruiting sponsors, etc. To learn more about our upcoming events, go to our Events Page.

Other Volunteer Needs
AGK welcomes volunteers in every area. Are you good at photography and willing to take pictures of foster dogs for the website or cover our events? Do you like administrative work? Have time, interest, and patience to make phone calls and keep records up to date? Willing to help recruit fosters for the foster team by reaching out to individuals and groups?
